    It’s Been Eerily Calm Out There. Some Traders Wager That Will Soon End

    Jeremy Wien, managing partner at Moo Point Capital Management, said that, relatively speaking, the VIX hasn’t been sounding the all-clear signal many think. The gauge, which measures expectations of volatility in markets, has been trading at a premium to the level of volatility that’s actually being recorded in markets.

    “In that sense, the market is expecting things to be less calm than they’ve been for the last few weeks,” Mr. Wien said.
